Definition

HVAC stands for Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning. It represents the intricate mechanical systems used in modern buildings to regulate temperature (via chillers and boilers), control humidity, and filter and circulate fresh air through specialized ductwork to ensure occupant comfort and safety.

Practical Example

In the construction of a modern shopping mall, the HVAC contractor plays a major role. They install massive central Chiller units on the roof, run chilled water pipes down the service shafts, and install Air Handling Units (AHUs) wrapped in sheet metal ductwork hidden above the false ceilings to keep the shoppers cool.

Application in Superwise

MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) works, particularly HVAC, involve expensive equipment like Chillers and AHUs. Superwise handles these massive capital purchases via the Procurement module. It tracks stage-wise payments—such as releasing a 20% advance upon issuing the PO, and another 60% only when the Chiller physically arrives on site via an approved Material Delivery Challan (MDC).
