A No Objection Certificate (NOC) is a mandatory legal clearance issued by various government departments (such as the Fire Department, Airport Authority, or Water Board). It signifies that the proposed building design does not violate that specific department's safety or operational regulations.
Practical Example
Before building a 50-story skyscraper in Mumbai, the developer must obtain an NOC from the Civil Aviation Authority (to prove the building won’t interfere with flight paths), an NOC from the Traffic Police (proving the driveway won’t cause highway gridlock), and a Fire NOC (proving the fire-escape stairwells meet the code).
