Definition

Concrete Admixtures are chemical or mineral ingredients added to the concrete mix immediately before or during mixing. In the high-temperature Indian climate, they are heavily used to modify the properties of the concrete, such as retarding the setting time, increasing workability, or providing waterproofing.

Practical Example

During a summer concrete pour in Delhi, the temperature is 42°C. To prevent the concrete from setting too fast and cracking before it can be properly vibrated, the site engineer instructs the batching plant to add a "Retarder" admixture to the transit mixer.

Application in Superwise

Tracking construction chemicals like Admixtures is critical due to their high cost and short shelf life. Superwise Inventory Management allows storekeepers to track admixture batches, enforce First-In-First-Out (FIFO) consumption, and link the chemical usage to specific pour locations via the Daily Progress Report.
